Through the Gates 02

During our honeymoon in Japan this summer we had decided to spend some time in Tokyo, mainly because my wife has only been there once despite previously having stayed in Japan for over a year.
For various reasons I didn't have a chance to see everything I wanted, but just walking around the neighborhood of our hotel in Akasaka I stumbled upon a temple.
Now it seems to me that next to all Japanese shrines and temples have atleast one torii ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torii ), but for a change this one had an entire row covering some stairs leading down to street level. There are probably millions or more photos of covered walk paths like this, but most seem to be shot at Fushimi-Inari shrine in Kyoto.

To me it has always been a special feeling to walk through seemingly endless rows of torii. Naturally they end some place, like here when it ended at the end of the stairs, but for places like Fushimi-Inari you can walk for hours and next to never need to step out from underneath the thousands of torii.
