Artist's Comments

Photo shot at Stavanger airport, Sola, Norway on the 26th of January 2009.
Camera: Canon EOS 40D
Lens: Sigma DC 18-200mm OS

I'm still in the winter downs, but this evening things seemed to lighten just a little bit.

Very intense colors in this one. :)

The silhouettes seem to emphasize them even further!

Overall, a very nice capture. I like it!

Det blei litt i mørkaste laget der oppe, men eg vet ikkje ka som gjør det men eg vurdere heila tia å ha blidet mest mulig likt normalt format. Mest me tanke på framkalling..... endå eg nestne ikkje framkalle någe, men ein vet aldri?
Jodå, ska tenka litt på det.

Enn du då, har du båge nytt spennane å lasta opp snart?

Thanks for the interest!
The colours are quite intense actually and I have to admit I had to alter them slightly to get a proper gradual fade in them.
I still try to keep them as close to the actual view as possible, but some deviation from realism will still occur no matter how much I try to make it look realistic.

The siluettes are something I try to have in all photo like this one. Seems to me that simply a photo of the sky lacks a little punch to really make others want to see it.
This one I had to cheat a little with as there was a parkinglot in the foreground and the simple thought of having a white car roof wasn't very appealing to me. So needless to say I added some more black to the bottom of the photo to make the siluette stand a little higher in the ground.
Once again, thanks for the interest and I'm glad you liked it!

Oh, I know what you mean. :D

Sometimes I'll try to tweak colors just a little bit, to bring out certain shades like yellow or red. Overall, though, I tend to shy away from major manipulations.

I like most pictures of the sky that feature pretty colors, but I think you're right: extra points of interest, like silhouettes, make the photo much more appealing. :)
